HivemindOS manual

Browser Extension

HivemindOS Browser adds a side panel to Chrome, Edge, Brave, and other Chromium browsers. Use it to ask an agent to summarize a page, explain a passage, rewrite a selection, compare tabs, or pull out action items without copying text into Chat.

Install

  1. Open Integrations and stay on Connections.
  2. Find HivemindOS Browser, choose your browser, and select Prepare & open browser. HivemindOS reveals the extension folder and opens the browser’s Extensions page.
  3. Turn on Developer mode, choose Load unpacked, and select the revealed browser-extension folder.
  4. Select the HivemindOS extension icon to open the side panel.

Browsers require you to confirm Load unpacked yourself. If you need the folder again, the Integrations card has Show folder, Open Extensions, and Copy path.

Connect and ask

  1. In the panel, open connection settings.
  2. Enter the Dashboard URL this browser can reach. The local default is http://127.0.0.1:5020.
  3. Enter the Dashboard unlock token: the device token (HIVEMINDOS_DASHBOARD_DEVICE_TOKEN) created during setup.
  4. Select an agent and a context mode:
    • Active page attaches readable page text, your selection, headings, visible actions, and a filtered list of open tabs.
    • Selection first puts highlighted text first while keeping page and tab context.
    • Chat only sends nothing from the page.

Ask is the default. Act lets the agent use its normal HivemindOS tools and approvals. Either way, the extension itself cannot click, type, submit forms, download files, or control the page.

What stays in your control

  • The token stays in this browser profile and is sent only to your dashboard. Never paste it into a page, prompt, screenshot, or support report.
  • The extension does not ask for debugger, native messaging, cookie, history, bookmark, download, or form-control permissions.
  • Banking, wallet, password-manager, checkout, payment, health, and tax sites are skipped automatically. Common token and private-key patterns are redacted before sending.
  • Page content is treated as untrusted. Instructions on a website do not become agent instructions.
  • For a remote dashboard, use a private network or HTTPS. Never expose a local dashboard to the public internet.
