HivemindOS manual
Shared skills
A skill is a reusable playbook for an agent: a writing style, a research method, a deployment workflow, a media pipeline, or any other repeatable way of working. Hive Superbrain keeps skills in your vault, so every supported agent uses the same instructions without a separate copy per runtime.
Use a shared skill
- Open the Skill Browser to see what is installed and browse optional packs.
- Install what you need. Optional skills are installed only when you choose them.
- Or just ask HivemindOS to find, install, create, or improve a skill for a job.
When a skill applies, the agent reads it before acting. A skill can add steps or safety checks, but it never grants permission to spend money, publish, delete data, or take any other outward action you did not ask for.
To turn a process that worked into a new skill, use Hive Fusion.
What is included
Fresh installs include a small core shelf for engineering work, finding capabilities, shared memory, compiled knowledge, creating workflows, and Obsidian-native files. Bigger or specialized packs stay optional so your shelf does not fill up. See Packaged skills for the full list.
The mobile app includes the same starter skills where they work on a phone. Skills that need desktop software are left out, and some need a connected computer to run. Your edits and removals stay as you left them.
Your existing runtime skills are safe
HivemindOS shows shared skills to each runtime through managed copies. It never overwrites a skill you installed yourself, even if the name matches a shared one.
When an imported plugin skill names a helper file it needs, HivemindOS keeps that helper with the shared skill. Other plugin files stay in the original plugin.
If the shelf shows duplicates or old test skills, run the health tools in Sync and repair.

Where skills live
Skills/README.md
Skills/<slug>/SKILL.md
Agents treat the shared shelf as their first skill source and read Skills/README.md first. Runtime-local skill folders are supplemental overlays for runtime-specific or personal skills.
Runtime projection
Setup copies the shared shelf into each supported runtime’s skill folder as HivemindOS-managed copies, so runtimes that only scan their own folder (such as Codex) still see shared skills.
- HivemindOS replaces a runtime skill folder only if it carries
.hivemind-skill-source.jsonmarking it as HivemindOS-managed. - A self-installed skill with the same name is kept and skipped. The shared version stays primary for HivemindOS routing; the local one stays available.
- Uninstall removes only HivemindOS-managed copies.
HivemindOS can also inventory skills in common Codex, Claude, Hermes, Gemini, OpenClaw, and Aeon locations. Auto-sync settings live outside the vault in ~/.hivemindos/skill-auto-sync.json. Managed copies, including provider-prefixed Aeon mirrors such as aeon-* or claude-*, are never re-imported as new skills, which prevents duplicate loops.
Included by default
The core shelf includes harness-engineering for evidence-based agent improvement experiments, hive-skill-autoresearch for review-gated skill fixes, and engineering-discipline, HivemindOS’ risk-scoped engineering method. For the fuller library, install the HivemindOS Engineering Discipline pack in the Skill Browser; it adds selected obra/superpowers methods and leaves your own colliding skills untouched.
| Skill | What it does |
|---|---|
photo-library-keyworder |
Guides the bundled Photo Library through inventory, vision indexing, human review, and Lightroom-compatible XMP export. No Python or source checkout needed. |
harness-engineering |
Compares baseline and treatment runs and keeps only changes backed by outcome evidence. |
create-zero-human-company |
Turns a business goal or repository into an approval-gated company record, with autonomy stopped until you launch it. |
bankr-app-development |
Teaches agents to create and publish Bankr apps with minimum permissions, live verification, and rollback. |
hive-assimilate |
Makes agents search pinned sources, the shared brain, your projects, and public GitHub before building from scratch. |
hive-pulse |
Produces a last-30-days signal brief across social, developer, market, GitHub, and web sources. |
hive-quant-research |
Runs a research-only quant workflow with overfitting checks and local artifacts. |
hive-capability-search |
Finds tools, skills, apps, agents, credentials by key name, and commands for a task. |
hive-remote-capability-use |
Runs apps and capabilities on your other machines with verification and side-effect checks. |
remote-machines |
Runs, schedules, and manages automations on your always-on machines. Each change is approved with Touch ID, your passkey or your password. |
hive-skill-fusion |
Turns a capability request into a reusable shared skill. |
hive-workflow-fusion |
Composes multi-step workflows from skills, apps, agents, and tools. |
hive-aeon-fusion |
Converts reusable workflows into AEON agent duties when appropriate. |
hive-brain-memory |
Teaches typed recall, durable memory, memory evolution with history, and replacing outdated memories when a newer one is saved. |
hive-brain-compiled-wiki |
Teaches the compiled-brain workflow: topic writes (an agent’s page waits for your review), compiled-wiki search, graph reads, and wiki health. |
hive-skill-autoresearch |
Turns repeated skill failures into a reviewed improvement task with no automatic replacement. |
notebooklm |
Uses the optional local NotebookLM integration with confirmation for destructive or outward actions. |
wrapup |
On request, tidies durable memory and saves a short session summary to your NotebookLM notebook. |
HyperFrames suite (hyperframes + 18 siblings) |
Handles HTML and HyperFrames video work. Generic creation requests first present an actionable choice between cloud AI, local AI, and HTML / HyperFrames; ordinary discussion stays conversational. |
The Obsidian Native Brain Pack is also included: obsidian-markdown (Obsidian Flavored Markdown), obsidian-bases (.base views), json-canvas (.canvas maps), and defuddle (clean Markdown from web pages, when the Defuddle CLI is installed). They are curated from kepano/obsidian-skills. They pair with the Agent Memory.base, Project Brain.base, Secure References.base, and Hive Superbrain.canvas views in Operations/Brain Services/.
Optional catalog
Optional skills are copied into your vault only when you choose them in the catalog. Examples:
| Area | Packages |
|---|---|
| Crypto | packaged-skills/optional/crypto/hivemindos/b20-issuer-proof/ |
| Growth | packaged-skills/optional/gtm/athm793/local-business-scraper/, paid-media-reallocation (proposal-only), seo-aeo-audit (read-only), and the Untested • Experimental packaged-skills/optional/gtm/hivemindos/distribution-first-app-validation/ |
| Productivity | packaged-skills/optional/productivity/madslorentzen/ai-job-search/ (private, local-first) |
| Writing | packaged-skills/optional/writing/petergyang/no-ai-slop/ (security-audited) |
| HivemindOS production | packaged-skills/optional/brand/hivemindos/brand-book-concept-page/, packaged-skills/optional/brand/hivemindos/hivemindos-brand-visuals/, venue-activation-visualizer, launch-video-hyperframes, and packaged-skills/optional/ops/hivemindos/work-board-airtable-bridge/ |
| Design | The UI Skills catalog under packaged-skills/optional/design/<source>/<skill>/; the 130 current MIT-licensed skills in the pinned, security-audited MengTo catalog under packaged-skills/optional/design/mengto/<skill>/; the official GreenSock GSAP set under packaged-skills/optional/design/greensock/<skill>/; and the Three.js Awesome Graphics set under packaged-skills/optional/design/scottstts/<skill>/ |
| Media | ai-ugc-production-pipeline, video-generator-prompting, and minimax-h3-video-prompting |
MengTo packages install from hashed local files without upstream demos; two upstream-removed legacy packages stay available at their earlier pin. Three.js examples stay restricted at use time, and their GPL and third-party license terms stay visible after installation.
You can also write skills straight into the vault. Other vault-authored shared skills include content-rewards-viral-app-campaign, instagram-reel-growth-workflow, video-shot-transcript, and higgsfield-api-quirks.
AEON mirror rule
The hidden AEON runtime mirror belongs at:
Operations/Runtime Mirrors/AEON/.aeon
Human AEON profile notes stay under Agents/AEON/<profile>/. The hidden .aeon folder must never become a visible profile folder.
Skill hygiene
Fleet tests create temporary hive-e2e-* skills and must clean them up. When the shelf looks noisy, run the vault doctor. It reports duplicate skills, conflict files, and test leftovers:
pnpm vault:doctor
pnpm vault:doctor -- --fix
