Hermes Local Setup
Use this guide if you run Hermes agents and want to start from the public shannhk/hermes-agent-control-room templates. HivemindOS uses the folder as its local HivemindOS folder: it checks the folder and passes its path to agents that opt in, as context.
Set it up
- Clone the repository to a folder such as
~/agent-control-room. - Pin the clone to a commit you have reviewed. HivemindOS was first checked against commit
48a1a5a2c3a64416f51b0199a1acc9aba05e6261. -
If you only want to read it, turn off pushes:
git remote set-url --push origin DISABLED - In HivemindOS, open the Brain settings and check that HivemindOS folder path (under Advanced) points to this folder.
Review before you run anything
Use the folder for docs, templates, runbooks, and task structure. Do not run its bootstrap scripts until you have reviewed and pinned each outside dependency. The upstream bootstrap installs live code from:
- the NodeSource installer;
- the Docker installer;
- the Hermes installer;
- global npm packages for Claude Code and Codex;
- the
nousresearch/hermes-agent:latestDocker image.
Install or run Hermes itself separately, after that review.
